Experience3+ years in Psychotherapy
I have been working as a student trainee psychotherapist for 3 years in a low-cost counselling centre. I have been working with adults 18 + presenting with a wide range of clients in Crumlin, Dublin.
Approach I work within a person-centred approach
The person-centred approach is a humanistic method that places the individual at the heart of therapy, focusing on their needs, values, and potential for self-actualisation. I respect the client's autonomy at all times during therapy. I believe the client is the expert in their life and actively involve them in deciding what they want from therapy.
Cognitive behavioural Therapy
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a type of talking therapy used to treat a wide range of mental health problems, including anxiety and depression. It is based on the idea that our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected, and that negative thought patterns can lead to distress and problems. CBT aims to help individuals become aware of their thinking patterns and behaviors, allowing them to develop healthier ways of thinking and coping with challenges. The therapy typically involves a structured approach, including weekly sessions over several weeks, and may include homework assignments to practice skills outside of therapy
