About Me

I hold a Graduate Diploma and M.A. (Masters) in Integrative Psychotherapy from the University of Limerick.
Other qualifications include a B.A. in English and Psychological Studies, an MSc in Psychological Studies, and a Diploma in Counselling Studies.

I have also completed a wide range of additional trainings for working with infants, children, adolescents and adults, including Circles of Security, Sensory Attachment Integration, Marte Meo, Trauma-Informed approaches, and Non-Violent Resistance Training.Throughout my career I have worked in Psychotherapy and Social Care / Family Support as well as in private practice. I have worked therapeutically with individuals and families from a wide range of backgrounds, cultures, and beliefs.

In my therapy practice, I work in an integrative way, meaning that, rather than working primarily from one theoretical approach, I draw from multiple perspectives and schools of psychotherapy. I am particularly influenced by Existential Psychotherapy and Attachment Theory.

I am a fully accredited member of IAHIP (Irish Association of Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy).

Some people seek out therapy because of upsetting experiences or events in their lives such as grief and loss, the breakdown of a relationship, family troubles or due to painful feelings such as depression, anxiety, or a loss of hope. Others seek out therapy just because they are curious to find out more about themselves, how they relate to themselves, others and the world. The desired duration of therapy, the goals of therapy and the ways of working together can all be explored in the first session and also on an ongoing basis. I typically work with clients on a weekly or fortnightly basis.

Experience

Psychotherapy for 7 years

Since qualifying from the University of Limerick in 2018 I have several years experience providing psychotherapy in private practice dealing with a wide range of issues and varying levels of severity. Alongside my private psychotherapy work, I have almost twenty years experience working in the field of Family Support in the non-profit sector delivering evidence-based programmes (The Circle of Security, Marte-Meo, Non-Violent Resistance Training, Sensory Attachment Integration) with infants, children, adolescents and parent / carers. I have worked closely with individuals and groups from a wide range of backgrounds, ethnicities, cultures, and beliefs.

Approach

I take a highly relational approach meaning that my main aim is to build an ethical, warm, connected, professional, and effective therapeutic relationship with each of my clients.

I work in an integrative way, meaning that, rather than working primarily from one theoretical approach, I draw from multiple perspectives and schools of psychotherapy. I am particularly influenced by Existential Psychotherapy and Attachment Theory.

I continuously strive to ensure I am emotionally present for my clients. Additionally, I engage in regular continuous professional development to ensure I continue to enhance my knowledge, skills, and practice.
