About

Hello and welcome. My name is David McCarthy and I am a holder of a BSc (Hons) Counselling and Psychotherapy degree with 130 hours of clinical client work completed during professional training. I also have completed approximately 200 hours of crisis-support volunteering with SpunOut.ie Crisis Textline over three years which gave me a fantastic foundation to find something I love doing.
I work from an integrative, person-centred and trauma-informed perspective, drawing on Internal Family Systems (IFS)/parts work, Transactional Analysis, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy and CBT-informed approaches. I also incorporate mindfulness, grounding, somatic awareness and experiential techniques where appropriate to individual client needs.
I have a particular professional interest in men's mental health, while welcoming clients
of all genders and backgrounds. I bring a calm, empathic and non-judgemental approach, with experience supporting people going through emotional distress along with strong skills in active listening, rapport building, risk awareness and professional boundaries.
My fees are:
€50 online
€60 in Person
