Since joining the Irish Association of Creative Arts Therapists as a fully-accredited member, I have worked in a variety of clinical settings. Since 2023 I have been employed as a Child and Adolescent Art Therapist for MyMind Centre for Mental Wellbeing, a national mental health service. I have also worked as an Adolescent Art Therapist at the Sexual Violence Centre Cork from 2024-2025, where my work was with victims of sexual and gender-based violence. I have also done work in the community across Cork facilitating at therapy groups and individual sessions in schools and with asylum-seeking children and adults. I currently work from my private practice offering individual in-person sessions.
Approach My approach is warm, flexible and tailored to each client's needs, with a strong, client-led foundation. I believe that with the right support and guidance, everyone may find their own means of creative expression, leading to greater understanding of oneself and their struggles.
My therapy room contains a wide selection of art and craft materials, meaning that there is something to appeal to different sensory and expressive preferences. Some examples include paint, clay, collage, natural materials, fibre art materials (wool, felt, fabric), and pastels. There is absolutely no experience or skill with art-making necessary and I help clients to find the materials and techniques that feel comfortable and enjoyable to them. My practice also incorporates Sandtray Therapy, which is an engaging and approachable way to explore the self and relationships using a variety of miniatures.
