About

Hello, and welcome.

My name is Joe O'Riordan, and I am an Accredited Psychotherapist based in Carrigtwohill, East Cork.

I offer a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space where you can explore whatever has brought you to therapy. Together, we will work at a pace that feels right for you, helping you gain greater understanding, resilience, and lasting change.

My approach is humanistic and integrative, drawing on Person-Centred and Gestalt psychotherapy to meet your individual needs. Whether you are experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, addiction, relationship difficulties, or navigating a significant life transition, I will work alongside you to help you better understand yourself and find a way forward.

I hold a BSc (Hons) in Counselling & Psychotherapy and am an accredited member of the Irish Association of Humanistic & Integrative Psychotherapy (IAHIP) and a member of the Irish Council for Psychotherapists (ICP).

I offer face-to-face therapy in a welcoming practice in Carrigtwohill, as well as secure online sessions for clients throughout Ireland. Appointments are available Monday to Saturday, providing flexibility to access therapy in a way that suits your lifestyle and commitments.

Taking the first step towards therapy can sometimes feel difficult. If you are considering beginning that journey and would like to discuss how we might work together, I would be pleased to hear from you.

Qualifications & Experience

Qualification I hold a BSc (Hons) in Counselling & Psychotherapy and a Higher Diploma in Humanistic & Integrative Psychotherapy (Gestalt). My education has provided me with a strong foundation in contemporary psychotherapy, while my humanistic and integrative training enables me to tailor therapy to each person's unique needs.

As an accredited member of the Irish Association of Humanistic & Integrative Psychotherapy (IAHIP) and a member of the Irish Council for Psychotherapists (ICP), I am committed to maintaining the highest professional and ethical standards. I engage in ongoing professional development, regular clinical supervision, and continuous learning to ensure my practice remains informed, effective, and responsive to the needs of my clients.
Experience
4+ years in Psychotherapy
My professional experience has involved supporting adults through a broad range of emotional and psychological challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, bereavement, relationship difficulties, and significant life transitions, across both community and private practice settings.

Alongside my professional training, I bring extensive life experience, enabling me to offer a compassionate, grounded, and authentic therapeutic relationship. I believe that every person's story is unique and am committed to providing a safe, respectful environment where clients feel heard, understood, and supported.

I hold a BSc (Hons) in Counselling & Psychotherapy and continue to develop my practice through ongoing professional development, evidence-based psychotherapy, and regular clinical supervision. This commitment ensures that my work remains ethical, reflective, and responsive to the individual needs of each client.
Approach My approach to therapy is grounded in the belief that every person has the capacity for growth, healing, and meaningful change. I provide a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

I work from a humanistic and integrative perspective, drawing primarily on Person-Centred and Gestalt psychotherapy. Rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach, I tailor therapy to your individual needs, recognising that each person's experiences and goals are unique.

I see therapy as a collaborative relationship built on trust, empathy, and authenticity. Together, we work to deepen self-awareness, understand unhelpful patterns, develop healthier ways of coping, and build resilience. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, addiction, relationship difficulties, or life transitions, my aim is to support you in moving towards greater wellbeing and a more fulfilling life.
