Experience4+ years in Integrative Therapist
Accredited Integrative Psychotherapist
-When a new client/session has been booked, I go through the new client’s intake form on the platform to get a brief overview of the client’s needs .
-As a therapist I am available both online and in person, when conducting a session either online or in person I ensure the client feels comfortable in the space by welcoming them and showing them where they can sit.
-When I have ensured they are comfortable, I inform them about the beginning of their session and how I will take 3 minutes or so to explain limitations of confidentiality, my approach and then I will ask them to give me some insight about their decision in coming to therapy. I believe this creates a very honest way of approaching the therapeutic relationship and that there are no surprises for clients that may be distressed.
-As a therapist I use the skills that I have acquired through practice and my studies to ensure the client does not feel judged, they feel safe, they feel like they can be honest, they can process emotion and so they can feel empowered to create their own change in the future.
-All of the above is possible when a space is created that has empathy, clear communication, active listening, positive body language, understanding, therapeutic interventions, the collaborative therapeutic relationship and trust.
-Throughout the sessions interventions are implemented in order to create change for clients. In between sessions with my clients I do send resources to clients that want them, as a lot of them are proactive and want to be kept in the loop of how they can be better.
-While meeting the needs of the clients I also work within the code of ethics implemented by APCP, my accreditation body. This ensures I adhere to the ethical guidelines, I am professional and lastly ensure I follow the limitations of confidentiality.
-When the session is coming to an end, I inform the client that there is five minutes left. If they have something to add from our session, I allow them to continue but if not, we spend that remaining five minutes reflecting on the session and answering any questions they may have or understanding how it has made them feel.
-I ensure they are not distressed or in a concerning state leaving the session and I then close the session.
I ensure my notes and records are accurate and up to date, as well as attending supervision on a weekly basis which also holds me accountable to self-care and reflection.
- In the office where the sessions are held, I ensure it is clean and comfortable and warm for clients . I am in an office space with 10 other businesses and as I am the last person leaving the building during the week I am also responsible for ensuring the building is completely secure when leaving.
