About Me

Navigating the complexities of our thoughts, feelings, and behaviours can often feel overwhelming and isolating. Therapy provides a space to untangle, organise, and understand where we are stuck. With over a decade of experience, I've had the privilege of working with individuals facing a wide range of challenges, equipping me with the knowledge and tools to support those seeking understanding and direction, whether for recent developments or lifelong issues.

I am accredited by the IABCP and EMDR All-Ireland and hold extensive training in in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Internal Family Systems (IFS), including IFS training at Levels 1 and 2. Additionally, my advanced training in EMDR covers the flash technique, attachment-informed EMDR, EMDR for dreams, intergenerational trauma, and ego states. I’ve also completed Somatic Integration and Processing (SIP) training with the Beyond Healing Center. This comprehensive framework helps work through both past traumas and present difficulties, empowering you to create meaningful, lasting change.

In 2022, I co-authored a systematic literature review published in Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy, titled "Imagery Rescripting and Negative Self-Imagery in Social Anxiety Disorder." This work reflects my ongoing commitment to integrating research with practice.

Starting therapy can be daunting, but my goal is to provide a personable, reliable, and connected experience where you feel heard, understood, and able to build trust. Within a few sessions, we will develop a tailored therapy plan to help you on your way, with regular progress reviews.

If you're seeking a therapist in Fermoy or Cork, I offer sessions in a quiet and calm space, as well as online.

Experience

Psychotherapy for 10+ years

I have 5 years of experience working within the NHS psychological services, where I honed my skills in evidence-based therapies like CBT and EMDR. This was followed by 5 years in private practice, where I’ve continued to provide tailored support to clients dealing with anxiety, trauma, and other mental health challenges. My background allows me to blend public sector expertise with personalized care in private practice, helping clients build resilience and improve their well-being.

Approach

My approach integrates three powerful therapeutic models—CBT, EMDR, and IFS. By blending Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for thought and behaviour change, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing to process trauma, and Internal Family Systems to explore inner dynamics, I create a holistic framework that adapts to each client's unique needs. This integration allows me to address not just surface-level symptoms, but also deeper emotional and psychological patterns, fostering lasting resilience and emotional well-being.

Qualification

I hold a master's degree in CBT, having graduated with distinction, and my research was published in Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy. I'm an accredited EMDR therapist, specializing in trauma recovery, and I've pursued advanced training in Internal Family Systems (IFS), completing both Level 1 and Level 2. My commitment to continued professional development ensures that my therapeutic approach remains dynamic and evidence-based, allowing me to offer clients a comprehensive and personalized path toward healing and emotional resilience.
