About Me

Hi I'm Sara and I offer Play Therapy to children aged 3 to 12 years. I have a background in Psychology and worked for many years in the Arts Sector. I am a Certified Play Therapist registered with Play Therapy Ireland.
I have worked with children struggling with diverse issues such as Bereavement, Anxiety, Parental Separation, Friendship difficulties, Low self esteem and emotional regulation. My approach is child led and child centred, a safe space within which a child can use play to process and play out big and difficult emotions, which might be hard to put into words. In the sessions children can explore and express their feelings using creative arts materials , sand, clay, small world toys, puppets and musical instruments.

Experience

Play therapy for 3 years

I have been working within Primary Schools for the past three years providing Play Therapy to children ranging in age from 4 years to 12 years.

Approach

My approach is child centred and mostly non directive. I provide a safe and supportive environment for children experiencing emotional difficulties, behavioural problems, children struggling with learning issues, children who have experienced trauma or loss, and those who are finding it hard to express themselves. Non directive play therapy places the child at the centre, allowing them to guide the therapeutic process through their play and expression.
